What we now see in Hiroshima emerged from the ashes of the World War II atomic bombing. Peace Memorial Park contains a museum displaying a large collection of photographs and objects relating to the devastation. Miyajima Island is a must-see destination and is located approximately 30 minutes from central Hiroshima. Miyajima is home to the famous Itsukushima Shrine with its iconic floating gate.
